When I sat down to start writing 2019’s end-of-year blog, I was excited to look back on all the excitement Bloom Racing has had this year. The intense emotions I feel towards this year are hard to explain, there has been a lot of fun and excitement. This is what the sport is all about and keeps us coming back for more.
From our very first runner in 2019, when Tikhvin Flew dominated while breaking his maiden at Aqueduct on January 4th, to Midnight Bisou starting off her 7 for 7 graded stakes win streak by winning the G3 Sam Houston Ladies Classic at Sam Houston Race Park! She went on to win the G2 Azeri, G1 Apple Blossom, G1 Ogden Phipps, G3 Molly Pitcher, G2 Beldame and also arguably one of the most thrilling races of the year, the G1 Personal Ensign, with that incredible stretch-duel between Midnight Bisou and Elate! Another incredible feat of Midnight Bisou’s was winning not one but TWO Breeders’ Cup Win and You’re IN races, the Ogden Phipps & Personal Ensign.

The Personal Ensign even won “Best Race Call” by Larry Colmus in the first-ever America’s Best Racing awards this year!
To be in the conversation as a Horse of the Year contender, to having her in the running for the Older Dirt Female division for an Eclipse Award, she brought us a year of exciting finishes, great memories, and has continued to develop a huge fan base. She sure has had her share of peppermints this year 🙂

Our Three-Year-old turf specialist Henley’s Joy secured his first Grade 1 win in the inaugural Turf Triple Crown, the first leg of the Turf Trinity at Belmont in the G1 Belmont Derby in June, becoming a millionaire in the process. Fan-favorite Snapper Sinclair took down the $700,000 Tourist Mile at Kentucky Downs, pushing him over the million-dollar mark in earnings as well.

Bloom Racing’s own Majestic City ended up as the leading Freshman Sire of New York, we look forward to his growth as a stallion, including seeing a some of our own Majestic City babies out there on the racetrack.
